In today’s episode, we discuss a study examining whether restricting carbohydrates earlier in the day affects glycemic control for people with type 2 diabetes. The study's unexpected result was that the timing of carb intake did not significantly improve glycemic control when comparing carb consumption at breakfast and lunch to spreading carbs across all meals. At the same time, both groups followed a caloric deficit with a Mediterranean diet. They consider the implications of this finding and discuss the importance of aligning eating with the body's circadian rhythms and the potential metabolic benefits of early time-restricted eating. They provide insights into how consistent fasting windows and intentional food choices can enhance the effects of a fasting lifestyle for health and weight loss.
